Salvation Army Receives Huge Donation For Center In South Bend

SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE - Joseph Dits

MISHAWAKA -- In May, construction will indeed begin on the Salvation Army's Kroc Center. Officials weren't at all certain of that last week. On Thursday, by surprise, it started to appear likely. Maj. Bob Webster was in the throes of the Salvation Army's annual red-kettle campaign, a mad Christmas dash to raise money for its youth and outreach programs. Deborah Cafiero had some news. AM General, where she's vice president and chief information officer, would give $1 million to the Army's other, much bigger campaign for a brand-new, 97,000-square-foot Kroc Center on South Bend's near-west side. The money would be spread over five years.  Link
